Our Junior Executive Youth Leadership students participated in a new class of the Financial Leadership Series, Reality 101 – Life After High School. Students randomly received a “Life Profile” that included their career, income, level of education, marital status, number of children, if any, retirement contributions, student loan payment, and a checkbook register. After reviewing their mock life, they visited thirteen stations and had to make decisions that best suited their budget and accommodated their family needs. The stations included Bank, Charity, Childcare, Clothing, Personal Care, Communication, Eating Out, Entertainment, Furniture, Housing, Groceries, Insurance, and Transportation. In addition, each student had to draw a “Chance Card” that mimicked real-life scenarios of emergencies, birthday parties, or even home repairs.
Special thanks to our volunteers who helped make Reality 101 successful!
