Robertsdale, AL – A New Mardi Gras Tradition is Officially Launched!
On October 24, 2024, the Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce proudly hosted the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Order of Misfits, marking the official formation of Robertsdale’s first-ever co-ed parading Mardi Gras Association. The event was held in Robertsdale at Honeybee Park with members of the community and enthusiastic supporters coming together to celebrate this exciting new chapter.
The Order of Misfits, founded by a diverse group of friends, seeks to bring the joyous spirit of Mardi Gras to Robertsdale, with its inaugural parade set to roll out in 2026. The association’s name, Order of Misfits, and its emblem, the Platypus, reflect the group’s commitment to inclusivity and breaking free from traditional molds. The ribbon-cutting event marks the beginning of what promises to be a lively and cherished Mardi Gras tradition in Central Baldwin County.
“We are grateful to have the support of the Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce as we introduce this unique and inclusive Mardi Gras association to Robertsdale,” said Tony, President for the Order of Misfits. “Our mission is to unite people from all walks of life in the spirit of fun, celebration, and community.”
Monthly meetings and event planning are already underway, and the Order of Misfits is inviting the community to join in on the fun. Membership is open to everyone—whether you’re local to Baldwin County or from a different state, a long-time Mardi Gras participant or brand new to the tradition, all are welcome to be part of the festivities.
